anybody know anything about designing video games?

my boyfriend has alot of really good ideas to create video games. i dont see how it would be possible, does anyone know how he could go about doing it without going bankrupt or cheated in the process? what process would you have to go through to get one designed and put out and not get credit taken away from you?
